TreadSight™ Field Testing
TreadSight™ Field Testing measures tire wear behavior under Real-world fleet operating conditions. This mode is used when the goal is to understand performance across real duty cycles, real routes, commercial drivers, with real-world variability.
Best for
- In-service robustness
Capture real-world spread and variance. - Warranty validation
Mileage and casing life confirmation with fit for purpose measurement depth. - Competitive benchmarking
Compare candidates under real-world operational conditions.
What you receive
- Tread depth based wear behavior
Wear trending aligned to program objectives and measurement depth. - Cycle based visibility
Performance and wear behavior are evaluated as they develop across defined measurement and inspection cycles. - Traceability
Identification and cycle tagging to support defensible comparisons.
352 Million Field Tested Miles and Counting
TreadSight™ Field Testing, established in 1995, utilizes disciplined test setup and data collection procedures aligned with our dedicated testing program execution standards. Upon arrival, tires are logged by DOT and serial information and grouped according to the test specifications. Depending on the selected field testing option, tires and components are assigned a unique identification number, tire measurement locations are laser engraved for repeatable cycle to cycle measurement locations.
Recognizing that not all fleets are ideal for field testing, we developed a proprietary Fleet Quality Audit to identify suitable candidates. Over the past three decades, we have built long standing fleet relationships that support consistent access to vehicles and measurement continuity.
- Immediate fleet access
- 98.7% casing recovery rate
Based on a 7-year average - 100% casing accountability
- Full data transparency
- Independent third-party evaluations
Field tests can be conducted in any location in the United States (and when required, Canada) thanks to our Remote Support Units. If you don’t have the time to run a field test but require tires or components with verified mileage, we can assist. We can source tires, components, and other items required to execute the program.
Why engineers use field testing
Controlled programs are valuable for repeatability, but they cannot fully represent the variability of real-world fleet operations. Field testing exposes the “real-world spread” driven by duty cycle, operating environment, maintenance behavior, and operational compliance. That spread often determines what customers actually experience in the market.
Field testing options
Not every program requires the same measurement density. Field testing can be executed using different measurement frameworks depending on the engineering requirements, ranging from mileage validation to high resolution, tread wear characterization, or competitor benchmarking.
TreadSight™ Field Testing
Tailored for R&D development testing, comparative analysis, competitor benchmarking, and sales departments that require high quality data to enhance their sales strategies with the added benefit of using an independent third party .
-
Laser engraved tire ID and measurement reference locations
Six measurement reference locations are laser engraved approximately 60° on sidewall to ensure consistent positioning and repeatability across inspection cycles. -
360° tire inspection at each measurement cycle
Tires are inspected through a full 360° rotation, with visual checks for anomalies such as cuts, cracking, irregular wear, or damage. -
Repeatable tread measurement and photo documentation
Tread depth measurements and tread face photos are collected at the same defined locations each cycle, supporting consistent trending and traceable wear interpretation.
Warranty Check+
Designed to validate mileage warranties and casing life with a more comprehensive structure than standard in house field engineering services.
- Three measurement locations
Indexed from a DOT reference point with additional locations spaced 120° apart. - Branded Tire ID
Identification supports cycle tracking without engraved measurement markers. - Efficient for larger programs
Balanced measurement density for validation programs.
Warranty Check
Mileage warranty and casing life validation with data collection comparable to in house field engineering services.
- Two measurement locations
Locations spaced 180° apart for basic confirmation and trending. - Serial number identification
No branding, uses the tire’s serial number for identification. - Focused and cost effective
Ideal when the objective is warranty validation, not detailed wear characterization.
Warranty Check TC (Total Control)
Comprehensive support when your team has already selected a fleet and requires help with execution.
-
Program setup and execution support
Tire identification, installation coordination, documentation workflows, and cycle measurements are managed for a defined support period. -
Planned transition to customer ownership
After the support window, program execution can transition to customer field engineers using established white label documentation. -
Stabilization of existing field programs
Existing customer run programs can be brought under Warranty Check TC to correct setup gaps, restore measurement consistency, or recover traceability.
Includes a white label basic measurement sheet to support continuity when program execution transitions to customer field engineers.
Real-world component field testing
In addition to TreadSight™ tire programs, Field Testing supports real-world validation of automotive and commercial vehicle components operating under real-world service conditions.
